mainly you have a 10,000 troop limit, you choose who wants to be attacker or defender choose terrain (such as hilly, flat, seaside or if the defender gets a castle.) Then you both say your troops and then you fight remember fighting down a hill gives you a bit better speed and givers your archers more length in your shots, Also fighting up hill will slow you troops and your archers probally will have to fight hand to hand just to get a shot in. Also there must be a waiting period for defenders to fix lines and such and for the attackes to organize waves and give their troops morale and also remember as a basic rule if your general dies your troops fight alot less better and it takes a bit to kill a general btw you can just say a lucky arrow hits him and eveyone gives up I win that won't work because if its a lucky shot your giving your opponent an edge because their troops will still fight on and they won't lose strength becasue to them the general was just another man. so have fun.

then here I'd make the description of th battle like this.
The first wave by the attackers was dismantled by the longbowmen.
The second wave comes up and lost half its forces due to so much arrow fire. The defenders swors men step forward to finish off the remanding attacking swordsmen and cavalry. The cavalry fall into the dug holes and their horses and men die instantly.
The third wave charges the longbowmen shoot 10 volleys before throwing down their bows for swords wait behind the swordsmen. The attacking cavalry suffers heavy casualties due to the holes but after a long battle the defenders trap the attacking general and have killed most of his army due to holes and sheer numbers, 9500 men vs 6000 men which most of the 6000 fell due to the cavalry holes and archers. The attacking general died in a valiant fight but due to being outnumbered on a hill had no real chance. The defending team wins with 7000 men stil remaining the attacking team loses with 200 men still remaining.
The battle is fought like that, I can be the adjudicator, if you want to be one you have to know a bit about medieval warfare but yer its mainly just troops choice and for the defenders placing and tactics.
